My name is Rob. I am the owner of Shamrock Gear and Repair LLC of Magnolia, Ohio. I began making the high quality leather radio holsters you see featured on this site out of necessity.
I am a career firefighter who has also been a volunteer. When I was a volunteer firefighter on a combination department, I was promoted to captain and given a radio to carry. I was alway dropping the radio or not carrying it because it was in the way. I needed a better way to carry this radio than putting it in a pocket or clipping it to my belt. I looked at what others did to manage this radio. I saw a few photos of FDNY officers carrying their radios in a leather radio holster and I decided I could make something similar. Other firefighters on my department poked fun of me and my “hero holster” as it became known, but soon they were asking if I could make leather radio holsters for them. As word spread of these leather radio straps, I began spending more time in my leather shop as people kept wanting their own “hero holster.”
